MetaX

A large movie collection is something to be proud of, but a heap of unsorted files on your hard drive is not. If you want to organize your video files, you should consider editing their metadata before anything else. Specifying a movie's actors or director can make it easier to sort your files. This is what MetaX was created for. This lightweight application lets you associate a wide range of information with your video files, in MP4, M4V or MOV format.

The setup process does not involve options that you may not be familiar with. Installing the application is a straightforward task and it will not take long to complete. MetaX works on Windows XP and all higher versions and its system requirements are modest.

You can load multiple video files on the left side of the interface and edit their tag information in the central region. When a file is selected, you may insert different types of details, under separate tabs. The software allows you to specify general information, like the movie's title, artist, launch date, rating and genre. Additional information can be inserted under a different tab, where you may type the film's director, producer, cast, screenwriter and much more.

It is possible to edit tag information for other collections, such as TV series, music videos or audiobooks. MetaX provides all the fields you need to write down a media file's artist, album, copyright information and so on. If a video file is part of a TV series, you can type the show's name, season, episode number and ID and the network that is airing the show. You can add much more information to a single video file. Some details are typed in, while others can be selected from drop menus.

MetaX makes it possible to look up a title on IMDB, just by clicking an option on its toolbar. The software will use the file's name as a keyword to perform a search. When you click the IMDB option, the results page will be loaded automatically, on your default web browser. Additionally, you may search for information and posters, on Amazon, tagChimp or Yahoo posters. This requires typing a keyword in a search query, on the left side of the interface. The results are displayed in the same area and if you click one, the information fields will be filled in automatically, for a selected video file.
